Rebuilding your body and mind after birth, with your baby in the room.

Postnatal yoga is a 60 minute class for the months after birth. It is slower to start than a general class and it builds from the inside out, beginning with breath and deep core, then adding strength as your body is ready for it. The body after birth is doing a lot at once. It is recovering, often feeding, and carrying a growing weight several hours a day, usually on one hip. This class works with that reality rather than around it. We spend time on the places that take the strain, which is nearly always the lower back, the shoulders, the neck and the wrists. Classes are rolling, so you can start whenever you are ready rather than waiting for a course to begin. Babies are welcome. They can lie next to you, feed, be carried through a sequence, or need attention halfway through, and none of that is a problem.
We begin on the floor, with breath and gentle reconnection to the deep core and pelvic floor. Nothing forced, nothing rushed. From there we move into mobility for the upper back, shoulders and hips, then into strength work. That might be standing sequences, floor based core work, or slow controlled movement using a band or a small ball. Your baby is often part of it. There is always space to stop. If you need to feed, change or settle your baby, you do that and come back in whenever you can. We close with rest, and with props arranged so you are properly supported.
Anyone from around eight weeks after birth. Some people come at eight weeks, some at eight months, some later. Speak with your midwife or gynaecologist about when is right for you, since every birth and every recovery is different. If you had a caesarean, a complicated birth, or you are working through diastasis or pelvic floor symptoms, tell your teacher before class. Everything can be adjusted, and if physiotherapy would serve you better first, we will say so. No yoga experience needed.
A gradual return to strength that respects what your body has just done. Relief for the shoulders, neck and lower back. Reconnection to the deep core rather than crunching straight back into old habits. Just as much, it gives you a room where you do not have to apologise for anything. Nobody minds the crying. Nobody minds if you spend half the class feeding. Most people come for the movement and stay for the other mothers.
Sixty minutes. Babies welcome. Blankets, wool mats, cushions and baby toys are here, along with blocks, bands and balls. Wear something you can feed in comfortably. Classes run in [English]. Groups stay small, [max 12 people].

Soulstone combines pre- and postnatal movement, baby classes, Pilates, and yoga in onedesign-led space, rather than splitting mothers, babies, and general fitness across separate studios.
